SHORT TERM VISION
We believe that a person with a vision for their future has a purpose in life. Those that don't have a vision look to the past.
Some people live in the past and those memories are filled with the good old days of scoring the winning touchdown, or the day they were married or when their kids were born. For most veterans the past is full of war, pain, death and loss.
22 veterans kill themselves every day in the United States because they are reliving the past daily and nightly.
Our goal is to help veterans focus on their FUTURE and give them a VISION to look forward. That will help them to build a life where they can put their pain where it belongs: IN THE PAST!
We have created an internship program that gives veterans the ability to learn the trade of personal training in it's entirety. By merging real world practical application experience with the scientific education of Anatomy, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, business development and entrepreneurial training we will set our veterans up for success while enhancing the fitness industry in San Diego.
THE BIG PICTURE
According to the 2018 Annual Homeless Assessment Report to Congress California has the highest numbers of homeless individuals in the United States. Out of an estimated 109,008 homeless individuals 85,373 are unsheltered. There are an estimated 10,836 homeless veterans with 7,214 being unsheltered (roughly 10% of our entire homeless population, almost equivalent to the entire homeless population of Oregon, and more than half the entire homeless population of Texas). There are only 5 states in the entire U.S. whose TOTAL homeless population outnumber the California homeless VETERAN population (OR, TX, NY, FL, WA).
Oregon: 11,139
Washington: 16,424
Texas: 19,199
Florida: 21,443
New York: 39,829
Unbroken seeks to address this problem in the San Diego Veteran community in a very different way. We will build a wellness center here in San Diego staffed entirely by our veterans, most of whom have gone through our complete internship program.
Unbroken seeks to heal the San Diego veteran community by making a lasting change in their spiritual, mental, physical, emotional and financial well being; while raising, funds for the needs to empower and change the situations of homeless veterans here in San Diego.
